The High School State Tournaments for baseball and softball are underway this week and Washington, Hillcrest, and Highland have been represented. At the baseball diamond the Hillcrest Ravens had a 3-1 victory over Remsen St. Mary’s on Monday, setting them up to take on the No. 4 Martensdale-St. Mary’s Blue Devils Wednesday with a final score of 18-8 going to the Blue Devils.

In the state softball tournament, the Highland Huskies came up short to number-one-ranked Wayne in the Class 1A state quarterfinals Tuesday, with a 7-4 loss at the Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge. Highland wrapped up the 2025 season by playing in a Class 1A state tournament consolation game against Newell-Fonda Wednesday afternoon with a final score of 7-6 going to the Mustangs.

The Washington Demons fell to defending state champion Williamsburg in the Class 3A state softball quarterfinals by a final score of 7-2 Tuesday in Fort Dodge. The Demons finished up the season by playing in a state tournament consolation game Wednesday morning against Estherville Lincoln Central, with a loss of 3-1.
