Both Keota Eagle squads dropped games on the diamond last night against Lynnville-Sully. Keota softball lost 12-4, but the good news is that they did make at least one win official by completing a postponed game with Lynnville-Sully beforehand and securing a 9-1 victory.
The Eagles are now 7-6 in the South Iowa Cedar League and 8-6 overall. The WACO Warriors also suffered a softball defeat yesterday, falling 11-0 to Louisa-Muscatine. A five-run deficit after one inning would already be too much to overcome for WACO, which is still winless this season but will look to change that later tonight against Pekin.
Despite trailing early, Keota baseball hung tough with state-ranked Lynnville-Sully last night and was only down 4-0 entering the fifth inning. But seven runs in the frame allowed the Hawks to end the game early as 11-1 winners. The loss drops the Eagles to 6-8, including a 5-8 record in conference play.
Both Keota teams play again this evening against another conference rival in BGM. You can hear Eagle softball take the diamond this evening on the KCII Area Game of the Week, with pregame coverage streaming at 5 o’clock on KCIIradio.com and the KCII3 app.
