Winfield-Mount Union/Columbus baseball would be on the wrong end of a close game Thursday night, falling at Louisa-Muscatine 6-5.
After the Wolves scored once in the second and three times in the third to lead 4-2, the Falcons rallied to take the lead in the sixth, and while WMU/Columbus got a run in the top of the seventh, L&M matched it to walk off as winners in the bottom half.
Senior Riley Kaalberg cranked a double as part of a team-high three hits for the Wolves and also scored a run and drove in another. Junior Kason Dopler and seniors Lane Genkinger and Kohlby Newsom each added a single and a run scored.
The loss drops Winfield-Mount Union/Columbus to 1-7 in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 3-10 in total. The Wolves are back on the diamond tonight against Wapello.
