The Hillcrest baseball and softball teams are back to life on the road in the Southeast Iowa Superconference tonight when they travel to Wapello. The Raven boys are 6-6 on the year and 5-2 in conference after a 2-0 win over Pekin Tuesday. This year, the Ravens hit .235 as a lineup with a .369OBP and .315 slug, 68 runs, 68 hits, 54RBI, 49 walks and 92 strikeouts. Three players are at .300 or better, led by Rowan Miller’s .343 with 12 total hits and 11 runs scored. Mason Helmuth and Liam Schrock have each driven in 12. The Hillcrest pitching staff has a 3.48ERA and 1.23WHIP with a .229 opponent average on 62 hits, 36 earned runs, 27 walks and 60 strikeouts. Phoenix Anderson and Seth Ours are a combined 5-1 with a 1.43ERA.
Wapello is 1-9 on the year and 1-5 in the Superconference after a 13-3 loss to Highland Friday. The Indians hit .169 as a club with a .286OBP and .189 slug on 16 runs scored, 34 hits, 11RBI, 25 walks and 95 strikeouts. Wyatt Marlette leads with a .250 average on six hits and five RBI, Jaxon Marshall has scored four runs. On the mound, the Indians have a team ERA of 9.38 with a 2.96WHIP and .274 opponent average on 95 hits, 71 earned runs, 62 walks, and 33 strikeouts. Marshall has the lone win. Hillcrest has won 14 straight in the series including a 10-0 game May 29th behind a Seth Ours no-hitter.
The Raven softball team is 7-9 this year and 3-7 in conference play after a 9-7 Tuesday win over Pekin. Hillcrest is hitting .296 as a team with a .427OBP and .372 slug with 105 runs, 117 hits, 76RBI, 82 walks and 120 strikeouts. Five players are at .300 or better led by Malia Yoder with a .542 average and 26 hits. Morgyn Nafziger has scored 19 times and Delaney Shaw has 17RBI. In the circle, Yoder, Ella Mize and Lyla Genkinger have combined on a 4.32ERA, 1.83WHIP, .246 opponent average with 123 hits, 57 earned runs, 46 walks and 88 strikeouts.
Wapello is 8-6 overall and 5-3 in conference after getting by Columbus 1-0 Tuesday. This year the Arrows are .265 as a team at the plate with a .368OBP and .332 slug on 63 runs, 95 hits, 44RBI, 45 walks and 74 strikeouts, led by Quinn Zweibohmer’s .405 average, 17 hits, 11 runs and eight RBI. In the circle, the Arrows have Zweibohmer and Mila Jordan who have combined on a 2.05ERA and 1.47WHIP with a .202 opponent average on 85 hits, 27 earned runs, 50 walks and 125Ks.
