Officials responded to a house fire with flames seen from the roof at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon located at 505 North Iowa Avenue in Washington. 

According to officials, the fire began in the upstairs apartment of the house, and firefighters could be seen entering the blue house, and breaking windows. Smoke filled the neighborhood. The fire was later extinguished. 

Fire Departments that responded to the scene included those from Washington, Ainsworth, Keota, Kalona, Riverside, and Wayland. Also assisting at the scene were the Washington Police Department and Washington Ambulance.

A public Gofundme fund has been established for at least one resident.
