The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams take the diamond in Kalona tonight for games against Van Buren from the South Division of the Southeast Iowa Superconference. The Raven boys are 2-1 on the year and league play after a 16-1 loss to Mediapolis Friday. This year Hillcrest is hitting .303 as a team, with a .452OBP, and .364 slug with 26 runs on 20 hits, 17RBI and 16 walks. Individually, Mason Bender leads at .625 with five hits, Rowan Miller has five RBI and Seth Ours has scored five runs. On the mound, the Ravens have a team ERA of seven with a WHIP of 1.50, on a .192 opponent average, 10 hits, 14 earned runs, 11 walks and 21 strikeouts. Phoenix Anderson and Ours are a combined 2-0 with an ERA under one.

Van Buren is 4-6 overall this year and 2-2 in the South after a 10-0 loss to Burlington Notre Dame. The Warriors are hitting .204 as a team, with a .324OBP, and .229 slug on 41 runs with 49 hits, 28RBI, 35 walks and 66 strikeouts. Individually, Izaak Loeffler is the leader at .333, with nine hits and six RBI. Aidan McEntee has scored 10 runs. On the mound, Van Buren has a team ERA of 4.59 with a 1.74WHIP and .181 average against, with 58 hits, 40 earned runs 48 walks and 53 strikeouts. McEntee is 1-1 with an ERA under one. Van Buren has won seven of the last nine in the series, but the Ravens took last year’s game 8-3.

The Hillcrest Academy girls are 3-5 overall and 2-4 in conference after splitting two games over the weekend at the the HLV tournament, beating the Baxter Bolts 11-1 and falling to the home Warriors 13-5. This year the Ravens are hitting .299 as a team, with a .444OBP and .382 slug with 60 runs on 61 hits, 42RBI, 50 walks and 70 strikeouts. Individually, Malia Yoder is at .583 with 14 hits and nine driven in. Morgyn Nafziger has scored 10 runs. Yoder and Ella Mize have combined for a 3-5 record in the circle with 46 innings, .260 opponent average, 59 hits, 29 earned runs, 26 walks and 50 strikeouts.

The Van Buren girls are 1-5 this year and 0-4 in conference after a 7-5 loss to Holy Trinity Catholic. This year the Warriors are hitting .272 as a team, with a .353OBP and .320 slug with 27 runs on 40 hits with 21RBI, 17 walks and 29 strikeouts. Individually, Alicia Cumberland is the leader with a .533 average and eight driven in, Ashlynn Huff has 10 hits and six runs scored. In the circle, Cumberland and Addison Brauns have combined for a 4.42ERA and 1.74WHIP with a .337 opponent average, 55 hits, 24 earned runs, 11 walks and 14 strikeouts. Van Buren has won three straight in the series including 4-3 victory last year. Baseball starts at 5:30p.m. And softball at seven tonight in Kalona.
