Both the baseball and softball teams got wins for the Sigourney Savages last night against conference rival North Mahaska. Sigourney played from behind for most of the night on the baseball diamond, as North Mahaska scored two runs in the fourth inning to lead 3-2.

The Warhawks would then tally three runs in each of the next two frames to push their advantage to 9-4. But the Savages would have an answer in the sixth, scoring nine times to grab the lead and adding some insurance on at the end to win 16-10 and raise their record to a perfect 3-0 in the South Iowa Cedar League and 6-0 overall.

Sigourney softball built a 2-0 lead after an inning of play and seized control with five runs in the third on their way to defeating North Mahaska 10-2.

The Savages, ranked 15th in the state in Class 1A, remain undefeated by improving to 5-0 ahead of taking on Cardinal later this evening. Meanwhile, Sigourney baseball, sitting at number four in Class 1A, will take on Davis County tonight.
