The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team lost a shoot out in their season opener last week at Joyce Park in Keokuk, falling by a 17-16 score.

The Chiefs would chip away with two each in the first and second and eventually take their first lead with a three run third at 7-6. Keokuk expanded the advantage with three more in the fifth to make it 10-6, but the Hawks got hot again. Golden Hawk five run sixth and seventh innings gave Mid-Prairie a 16-10 cushion going to the seventh, but it was Keokuk who would rally last with seven in their final at-bat to score the walk off win.
