
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls soccer team saw their season wrap up Friday night in the Regional Final round of the Class 1A tournament, falling to the No. 3 Davenport Assumption Knights 8-0. After the first 10 minutes went by scoreless, Assumption got the offense started to run up a 5-0 lead at the break and added three more goals in the second half. The Knights out shot the Hawks 18-0 in total and had 11 corner kicks. It was too much firepower from Dru Dorsey for Assumption who led the club with five goals, Gabby Stoffregen, Maddy Martinez and Maddi Tolle had one goal apiece. Stoffregen had three assists, Dorsey and Anna Weiman had one. Golden Hawk goalkeeper Niva Helmuth made 25 saves.
Assumption advances to their 14th straight state tournament with the win and stands at 12-4-1 on the season. Mid-Prairie ends the year 7-11-3, with their first ever trip to the Regional Finals in school history. The Golden Hawks say goodbye to seniors Lydia Beachy, Kyla Karnes and Zoey Curtiss.
