The playoff road came to an end Monday at the Class 2A district tournament for a pair of Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys golfers. In harsh windy and rainy conditions, against a loaded field, on one of the toughest courses in the state junior Bryce Henry and sophomore Grayson Gingerich played their final rounds of the year, falling one step short of the 2A state tournament.
Gingerich put together a 96 and Henry a 107. Eliot Menninga of Pella Christian won the individual title with a 76. The Eagles advanced to state with the team championship on a 319 day, beating second place Prairie City Monroe’s 343. The Golden Hawks end their season with a 45-20 record, and say goodbye to senior Ace Peck.
