The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls soccer teams celebrated Senior Night Friday at the Wellman Rotary Soccer Fields. The Hawks and Bellevue Comets got together in boys action and finished in a 2-2 tie. Both teams got on the board in the first half with the Comets holding a 2-1 advantage at the break. Mid-Prairie found the equalizer after intermission and things stayed deadlocked through the final horn. The Golden Hawks won shots on goal 11-10 and corner kicks 6-5. Individually, Matthew Troyer and Peyton Fox handled the scoring for the Hawks, giving Fox a team leading five goals this year. It was Troyer’s second of the season. Fox added an assist, his team high second of the year. Mac Yoder made two saves in goal for Mid-Prairie. The Golden Hawks honored seniors Traevin Gugel, Jacob Flynn and Adrian Sanchez Reyes in a ceremony before the match. Mid-Prairie is now 2-11-2 on the season and travels to Hillcrest Academy Tuesday for a first round district contest.

The Golden Hawk girls were beaten by a 2-1 score. All of the offense came in the first half, with the Comets up by their one goal margin after one. Neither team could break through in the second. The Hawks out shot the Comets 8-3, the Comets won corner kicks 5-1. Mid-Prairie’s goal came from Lydia Beachy, her sixth of the season. Niva Helmuth made three saves in goal. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 4-10-3 on the year, Bellevue is 9-5-1. The Golden Hawk girls honored seniors Zoey Curtiss, Lydia Beachy and Kyla Karnes with a ceremony after the match. Mid-Prairie is back in action tonight with a first round playoff matchup against Wapello in Wellman.
