
Four teams from the KCII listening area will be among those in the field at the Class 1A girls sectional golf tournament today at the Sigourney Golf Club.
The Hillcrest Academy Ravens enter the day with a 3-21 record, after finishing 11th of 14 teams at Monday’s Southeast Iowa Superconference championship meet at Burlington with a team score 471. The Ravens were led by Claire Withrow at 104 to earn honorable mention All-Conference honors. This year, the Ravens carry a team average of 260 on nine holes and 506 on 18, led by Ava Miller at 60 on nine and Withrow’s 116 on 18.
The Highland Huskies are in the middle of a dominant 36-1 campaign. The Huskies won the Southeast Iowa Superconference team title Monday in Burlington with their score of 370, paced by a 1-2 punch at the top from individual Superconference champion Emersyn Schultz 87 and Adisyn Prottsman’s conference runner-up 88. This year, the Huskies have a team average of 198 on nine and 377 on 18, led individually by Prottsman’s 43 on nine and Schultz’ 86 on 18.
The Keota Eagles own a 6-15 mark this year. They were sixth at the South Iowa Cedar League championships in Oskaloosa Monday with a team score 465 on 18, led by a third place individual finish from Lainey Swanson at 93. This year, the Eagles have a team average of 250 on nine and 494 on 18, led by Swanson at 48 on nine and 95 on 18. The Eagles are ranked No. 26 in Class 1A in the latest poll from the Iowa Golf Coaches Association with Swanson ranked 14th individually.
Sigourney is 9-11 on the season. The Savages posted a 10th place team finish at the SICL championships Monday with a 491 team score, led by Ella Bruns in fourth with a 94. This year, the Savage average is 206 on nine and 389 on 18, led by Bruns and Adalynne Tremmel at 51 for nine and Tremmel’s 96 on 18. Sigourney is ranked No. 11 in Class 1A in the latest IGCA poll with their full varsity lineup ranked including Tremmel 44th, Kayla Renner 49th, Bruns 51st, Hannah Hanselman 62nd, Regan Clarahan 68th and Ella Fineran 77th.
These teams will be joined today by BGM, Montezuma, Moravia, Van Buren and Wayne. The top two teams and top six individuals are guaranteed to advance to next week’s regional finals. Action starts this morning at 9a.m. And continues all day Friday at the Sigourney Golf Club.
