The playoffs have arrived for local boys golf teams. A pair of 1A schools from the KCII listening area will send their squads to Brooklyn today for a sectional at BGM.

The Hillcrest Academy Ravens enter the day with a 22-4 overall record after a fourth place finish at the Southeast Iowa Superconference tournament last week. The Ravens have a 170 team average on nine and 330 mark for 18, led by Liam Schrock at 37 and Rowan Miller at 38 for nine and that same pair at 73 and 79 respectively on 18.

The Keota Eagles are 28-10 this year after dropping a 161-165 dual to Mid-Prairie last week at Lagos Acres. The Eagles are ranked No. 5 in Class 1A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. For the year, Keota has a 171 team average on nine and 335 for 18, led by Brennan McGuire and Billie Kindred at 40 each for nine and McGuire’s 76 on 18. All six Eagles in the varsity lineup appear in this week’s individual 1A poll including No. 7 McGuire, No. 14 Kindred, No. 22 Porter Cave, No. 129 Tucker Sprouse, No. 142 Cooper Strand and No. 158 Jake Morris.

Those two teams will be joined today by English Valleys, No. 16 HLV/Tri-County, Iowa Valley, Montezuma and the home Bears. There a total of 12 ranked golfers in today’s field. Action starts at 10a.m. And continues all day at the Victor Country Club.
