
The Highland Huskies would suffer a 2-1 loss to conference rival Danville on the soccer pitch Thursday. All the scoring came in the first half as Highland drops to 2-5-1 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 6-5-2 overall.
The WACO Warriors would also fall to a Super Conference rival on Thursday, losing at home to Burlington Notre Dame 8-2. Despite goals from senior Tristan Luitjens and junior Keiran Luitjens, WACO could not catch the sixth-ranked team in the state in Class 1A. Junior Levi Bachman had an assist for the Warriors, who fall to 3-8, including a 2-6 conference record.
Sigourney-Keota soccer got close to a victory on Friday night, getting the match to halftime tied at 2 with Albia but still suffering a 4-3 defeat. Sophomore Caden Meyer and juniors Aydin Flowers and Gavin Khali each scored a goal for SK, while Flowers and junior Wells Clark each had assists.
Junior Ty Goldman made 15 total saves as the goalkeeper for Sigourney-Keota, who has their record drop to 1-10.
