dogwood-road-closure-may-2025

Dogwood Avenue will be closed to thru traffic near Brighton and Lake Darling starting May 12th. According to the Washington County Engineer’s Office, Dogwood Avenue will be closed from 295th Street north to the existing pavement. Crews will continue to re-grade that stretch of roadway from the work that began last year. They will be filling material along the alignment for new grade, providing a new at-grade crossing over the railroad tracks and raising the elevation of Dogwood Avenue.

Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius stated, “This project is the next phase in completing a long-term project to provide another paved road corridor over the Skunk River, which will improve travel in the southwest part of the county.”

Work is expected to be completed before October 31st, weather permitting.

Cornerstone Excavating, Inc. of Washington was awarded the $888,108.25 contract for the work.
