One person was injured and a fire truck sustained damage when a collision happened on Highway 218 near Riverside Tuesday afternoon. According to Washington County Communications, at 3:20 p.m. the Riverside Fire Department notified dispatch that while on the scene of an incident their fire truck was hit by a vehicle. 

The driver was a juvenile female. One person was transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital.

The incident happened near 130th Street, south of the Highway 22 exit. The vehicle was towed from the scene. 

The fire truck had initially responded at approximately 2:40 p.m. to a call of a tow truck with a tire on fire. The fire was extinguished. 

Riverside Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Kalona Fire Department, Kalona QRS, Washington County Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol, and Washington County Sheriff’s personnel.
