High level play led to low scores and quality competition at Tuesday’s West Liberty Golf Invitational.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk’s shot their low 18 hole team score of the year at 316, to finish third in the 11 team field. West Liberty won on their home course with a 309. The top four players for Mid-Prairie on the day all carded personal bests, led by Clayton Davidson’s 77 to finish in sixth place, with a round that included 10 pars and a birdie. Bryce Henry was seventh at 78 on a day with nine pars and three birdies. Grayson Gingerich was eighth on a 79 with three birdies and six pars. Denver Nelson finished with an 82, Ace Peck with an 85 and Hudson Ehrenfelt with an 88. Nelson, Peck and Ehrenfelt each had one birdie apiece. Cael Daufeldt won the home tournament for the Comets with a 74.

Winfield-Mt. Union Union was sixth with a team score of 346. Justin Knipfer’s 83 was the best card for the Wolves, finishing with one birdie and eight pars. Other WMU days included 86 for Cody Milks, Max Edwards 88, Nick Sparrow 89, Grant Anderson 91 and Konner Kinneberg 92. Sparrow finished with a pair of birdies.

Mid-Prairie is now 28-14 on the year with their next meet Monday at West Liberty. Winfield-Mt. Union is 20-7 and travels to Lone Tree Thursday.
