titanic-dinner

Monday, the Washington Public Library makes history come alive with their inaugural Titanic Dinner: A Night to Remember. Beth Swift, Information Tech Services Librarian at the Washington Public Library spoke with KCII News about the idea, events for the evening and what she and the staff are looking forward to, “My colleague, Tammy Valentine, wanted to do this after she discovered it on another library site. We opened up registration on a Monday morning at 8a.m and by Tuesday at noon it was full already. We’re going to do it on April 14th, the anniversary of when the Titanic hit the iceberg. People who have registered have come in and drawn an actual passenger on the Titanic. It determines whether they are first-class, second-class or third-class passengers. Don’t really want to give our dinner menu away yet. Those who are coming are welcome to dress up if they want to. There are a lot of Iowa connections to the Titanic that we didn’t know about. I will be giving a small presentation on that. We have a couple of other little surprises too. So far this year, people are having a lot of fun with it!”

Registration is full. The event will be from 6-8p.m. In the upstairs area of the Washington Public Library. For more information about the event listen to Thursday’s Jessica Yoder & Sarah Bigley with Kalona Realty Washington Page on-air, or online at KCIIradio.com.
