Some new faces, same story for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf team Monday in their season opener at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City. The Golden Hawks started the year blasting Iowa City Regina 197-250. Every single Mid-Prairie varsity score was as good, or better than the best card the Regals put together on the night. The Golden Hawks swept the medal honors, with Addison English firing a 44 and Olivia Swartzentruber 48. The Mid-Prairie duo spoke with KCII sports about their night and the team win, “Tracy (McArtor) did tell us that he had a goal for us to get 210 as a team today and we got that, by far.”

English said, “I would say the last four holes of my meet today were pretty good. The last three I pared all three of them so that’s what stood out to me.”

Swartzentruber said, “I had a par four that was pretty perfect. That was my best hole of the meet today.”

Other scores for the Hawks included Morgyn Bender 50, Lilly Miller 55, Paiton Chittick 56 and Delani Blum 57. The Hawks, now 1-0 on the season, are off until a Monday trip to West Branch.
