Spring cleaning season is here and the City of Kalona has a new program to help residents beautify the outside of their property. The city has Ace N More 30-gallon compostable bags for organic yard waste. These bags are available at City Hall, during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and after hours at the Kalona YMCA.

Now through November, residents can bring their filled yard waste bags to the City of Kalona shop building at 711 A Avenue for free disposal. This area will be open seven days per week. Bags must be disposed of into the yard waste container along the east fence. Beginning April 1st  through the end of May, the city will offer a curb-side yard waste pick-up program. This will operate each Tuesday. Bags must be sealed and curbside by 7 a.m. that day. The yard waste container at the City of Kalona shop will also remain open during this time.
