The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track teams closed the indoor season with fireworks Tuesday night at the River Valley Conference Championship meet in Dubuque. The Golden Hawk boys won the team River Valley title with 79.5 points over Anamosa’s 59 in second. The Hawks had RVC individual champions including Emmett Swartzentruber in the two-mile at 4:44.93. Jayse Yoder won the 800 in 2:02.08 and Burke Berry was shot put champion at 52’7”. Other top performances for Mid-Prairie included runner-up for the sprint medley team of Ryan Henry, Kentrick Kos, Nolan Jergens and Preston Yutzy. Third each for Josh Turner in high jump, Cash Brown in long jump, Tommy Miller in shot put and the 4×800 team of Max Swartzentruber, Lenox Miller, Jonathon Pickard and Evan Reschly. Ryan Henry was fourth in the 55m dash, and the 4×400 team of Emmett Swartzentruber, Yutzy, Thomas Flynn and Lenox Miller was fifth.

The Golden Hawk girls were team runners-up with 87 points, behind Maquoketa’s winning 103 points. Freshman Jeorgia Evans went triple gold for the Golden Hawks, winning the River Valley title in the 55m dash in 7.34 seconds, the 200m in 26.34 seconds and the long jump at 17’10”. Other top performances for the Golden Hawk girls included runner-up for Tessa Bombei in high jump and the 4×800 team of Rachel Hostetler, Tessa Brokaw, Brooklyn Stutzman, Kendal Landstrum. Hostetler was third in each of the 800 and 1500m runs, Harper Pacha was third in shot put and it was third for the sprint medley team of Myli Hershberger, Brokaw, Ruby Miller and Landstrum. Stutzman was fourth in the 1500 and Sophie Miller was fifth in the 55m hurdles, as was the 4×200 team of Hershberger, Bombei, Ruby Miller and Hannah Rodgers.

The Golden Hawk boys and girls get the outdoor season started at Mount Pleasant Thursday, April 3rd.
