All of Mid-Prairie’s 30 individual events are advancing to the state speech contest. The Golden Hawks had 18 members of the speech team compete in 30 events at the Iowa High School Speech Association’s Individual Events Speech Contest held at Pekin High School over the weekend. Mid-Prairie had a sweep with all 30 events receiving Division 1 ratings.

The Mid-Prairie speech team is coached by Christine Meader and Lisa Helmuth.

The students will next take part in the IHSSA’s State Individual Events Contest on March 15th at North Scott High School. While there, three judges will evaluate each performance. If a student receives two nominations from the judges, then they will advance to the All-State Festival on March 31st.
