The Sigourney Savages were on the wrong end of both basketball games with Centerville they hosted Monday night. The Sigourney girls stretched an early lead to eight points by halftime, and the Savages led 41-25 going into the final quarter.
But Centerville summoned an impressive 21-5 run to tie the game and force overtime, where they would outscore the home team 14-6 for a 60-52 victory. After 12 straight wins coming in, Sigourney falls to 17-5.
The Savage boys would take a 75-61 defeat to the Big Reds, dropping their record to 15-6. Both Sigourney squads now gear up for the playoffs, with the boys taking on HLV Monday in their first-round game in Class 1A Substate 5.
Meanwhile, the Savage ladies will have their first postseason contest Tuesday when they host either the WACO Warriors or Burlington Notre Dame in the 1A Region 7 quarterfinals.
