
An Iowa City man was arrested for Washington County warrants, including solicitation to commit a felony.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a report on Friday from Johnson County that they had a subject in custody with Washington County warrants. Authorities arrested 23-year-old Javante Owens of Iowa City on violation of probation on the original charge of a prisoner in possession of contraband within a correctional institution, a class D felony, and solicitation to commit a felony, a class D felony. According to court documents, upon being booked into the jail, deputies located four small clear plastic bags hidden between the defendant’s toes. The plastic bags contained a white powdery substance similar to cocaine, the total weight of the bags was about 9.1 grams. Bond was set at $10,000 and Owens later bonded out. His court date has been set for February 13th.
