
The Lone Tree Community School District has received a prestigious award. Lone Tree was presented the MS/HS College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award. The award is given to a high school or middle school for achieving high female students’ representation in AP Computer Science principles. According to the rules, the award contenders must either have 50% or higher female representation in one of the two AP computer science courses or achieve a percentage of female computer science exams taken that meets or exceeds that of the school’s female population. Lone Tree was one of only 847 schools in the country recognized for improving female representation in AP CSP. According to the AP Computer Science Principles, computer science course participation has increased 161% since 2017.
