After one of the most successful seasons in Mid-Prairie football history, two Golden Hawks were selected to Class 2A First-Team All-State positions by the Des Moines Register.
Golden Hawk junior Kaden Kos was a first team choice at linebacker. His 159 tackles this season led Class 2A, and are the most ever for a Golden Hawk in a single season, his 23 tackles for loss were third most in 2A. Kos holds the school record with 287 tackles in his Mid-Prairie career. He was also named District 5 Defensive MVP and First-Team All-District linebacker.
Sophomore Tommy Miller was a first team selection along the offensive line. He was in the trenches for a Golden Hawk offense that gained 3,388 total yards on the year, ninth most in 2A, had 34 rushing scores, fifth most in 2A and 1,757 passing yards, seventh in 2A football. The Golden Hawks 4,218 all-purpose yards and 46 team touchdowns were both eighth most in 2A. Miller was also named Co-Lineman MVP for District 5 and a First-Team All-District offensive lineman.
The 2024 Golden Hawks finished with a 7-4 overall record, ranked No. 9 in 2A in the final poll from the Iowa High School Athletic Association, were undefeated District 5 champions at 5-0, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2A playoffs for the first time since 2008.
