The opening date of the new Washington YMCA Pool will be announced soon. KCII spoke with Washington Y Executive Director Amy Schulte to learn more about the pool progress, “Pools are very complex, and they also are required to be licensed by the state of Iowa, so the licensing agent has to come and do all of their inspections and give us the thumbs-up on opening up to the public. So we are looking forward to getting through all of that inspection process so we can welcome the community.”  Other information to keep in mind before the pool officially opens is, Pre-registration will be required for all classes, lap swimming, and water walking. There will be limited programs for the first 45 days. Private and group lessons will be announced soon for sign-ups. There will be no day passes for the first 60 days. Pool access will be limited to members and donors during the initial period. Non-members and Kalona resident members will not have access to day passes for the pool at this time.
