This spring, the Washington County Riverboat Foundation awarded 24 grants totaling more than $3 million to deserving organizations. Among them was the Lone Tree Historical Society, who received a grant of $13,335.

Andrea Brenneman is a lifelong Lone Tree resident, and one of several who helps keep the museum up and running. She expressed tremendous gratitude to WCRF for allowing that to continue. “We are so excited that we got that thirteen thousand, we just want to thank them over and over. It’s wonderful what it’ll do for this museum.”

Brenneman went on to tell KCII the Lone Tree Historical Society’s plans with the grant funding. “The museum was built back in the late 1800’s so a lot of the windows are still here from that time. Our first thing we want to do is replace a lot of the windows. That’s what we think  the majority of this money will go toward.”

The Lone Tree Museum is located at 203 South Devoe Street and open by appointment only. To make an appointment, contact Brenneman at 319-330-4605 or click here.
