The Washington Demon boys’ golf team took care of business once again in their home conference meet Monday at Washington Golf & Country Club. Washington’s team score of 150 strokes was not only a season low for a nine-hole event, but they finished 29 strokes ahead of second-place Mount Pleasant.

Demon senior Roman Roth was the meet medalist again with one of his best rounds of the season, picking up back-to-back birdies to start the day and playing a bogey-free, three-under-par round of 33.

Drew Conrad finished even par for Washington while shooting 36 and was the individual runner-up. Fellow sophomore Rajan Roth was two over at 38 to take third overall, while junior Cole Vetter and sophomore Carson Brown were tied for fifth after each finishing with a seven-over 43.

Senior Luke Beenblossom’s nine-over 45 rounded out a day that keeps the Demons atop the Southeast Conference standings and gives them their 10th straight team victory in a conference event.

The Washington girls would finish fourth as a team at Mount Pleasant Golf & Country Club. Maci Williams was also fourth individually after shooting the team’s top score of 51, while fellow senior Natalie Prochaska fired a 57.

Junior teammate Lauren Hinrichsen finished one stroke behind her for the Demons, who will have both golf teams back in action later this week, with the girls heading to a tournament Thursday at Oskaloosa and the boys next playing in a conference meet Friday in Fairfield.
