This week, Alliant Energy announced the 41 communities to receive grant funding as part of the company’s One Million Trees initiative. Among them was the City of Fairfield, receiving $5,000.

These funds are expected to plant approximately 50 trees in the right-of-way at the City Park. In total, nearly $145,000 was awarded throughout the State for tree planting projects. Alliant Energy works with restoration organizations and nonprofits like the Department of Natural Resources and Trees Forever. The initiative includes communities in both Iowa and Wisconsin.

Since 1990, Trees Forever and Alliant Energy have awarded over $7.8 million in grants which have helped to plant more than 1.1 million trees in Iowa and Wisconsin. For more information about the One Million Trees initiative, click here.
