In a partnership between Alliant Energy and Trees Forever, 51 Iowa communities will benefit from funds designated for tree planting. Riverside and Hills are two such cities that will receive some of the over $165,000 in grant money.

The City of Riverside was awarded $3,305. The funds are going towards a project that will plant trees in the right-of-way at East 3rd and East 4th Streets. Local volunteers will do the planting. In Hills, $1,000 received will be used to plant 5 trees to replace ash trees.

The Community Tree Planting Program is part of Alliant Energy’s One Million Trees initiative, which aims to plant one million trees by the end of 2030.
