The Washington High School Dance Team hosted its first competition day on Saturday. There were eleven groups in attendance. Washington dancer Abby Renoux spoke with KCII about the day. “I think that competition day in general, is just so fun to see people because the nerves you get before you go onstage are unreal, but the feeling you get when you come off of the stage is just that too. To me, it was so much fun especially being more a part of it this year and helping backstage to set up. I think that was also really beneficial for me to see how much work goes into a competition. The owner (The Dance Challenge), Jen Thielma, she was amazing. Helping us, making sure everything ran smoothly. Much appreciation to her and everyone else, all of the volunteers. We had a great turnout.”  Over the course of the day the total raised was $1,955 for the WACO High School and Washington High School spirit squads. This competition was put on with support from The Dance Challenge, a Cedar Rapids based dance company that hosts dance competitions around the state of Iowa.
