The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk archery program competed last weekend at the Eddyville-Blakesburg Rocket bullseye and 3D contests. At the high school level, Mid-Prairie was fifth of five teams in the bullseye event with a 2928, North Mahaska won the title with a 3169. Top boys finish came from Blake Peck in 15th with a 249 that included six tens, the girls were led by Josee Mueller 16th with a 262 and 10 tens. In high school 3D, the Hawks were sixth of six teams with a 1440, Cardinal was the champion at 1589. Top boys shooter was Tate Bombei 16th with a 246 that included nine tens. Mueller again had the best girls finish with a 251 and six tens to place 18th.
For the Middle School Hawks they were runners-up out of five in the team bullseye standings, edged out by Ottumwa 3121 to 3035. Tommy Miller was the individual boys champion with a 273 that included 11 tens. Other boys top tens included Preston Ford fourth and Morgan Northup sixth. Averi Janecek had the top girls performance in sixth with a 267 that included eight tens. Lael Seale also made top ten in seventh. In 3D, they were again second to Ottumwa out of eight schools 1557 to 1534. Miller was the individual boys runner up with a 272 that included 12 tens. Morgan Northup was third. For the girls, Seale was fourth with a 263 including seven tens to lead the way.
The elementary Hawks did not post a team score but were led individually by boys bullseye champ Noah Coblentz with a 270 and nine tens and girls runner-up Lara Brenneman with a 255 and five tens. Taya Bombei was seventh for the girls. In 3D, Brenneman was again girls runner up, this time with a 251 that included eight tens, Coblentz was best for the boys in third with a 240 that included seven tens.
Mid-Prairie will next be in action this weekend at Mount Vernon.
