The Kalona City Council selected the recipients for the Kalona Citizen Award at their recent meeting.

Five recipients were selected for making life better in the City of Kalona.
This year’s recipients will be recognized at the 50th Annual Kalona Fall Festival on Saturday, September 24th at 2 p.m.
This year’s award recipients are; Peggy Kauffman, Anita Kanagy, Ron Slechta, The Pleasantview Home and Kalona Sales Barn.
City Administrator for the City of Kalona Ryan Schlabaugh shares, “They’ve all had a little bit different impact on our community and that’s what makes me really proud when we do these to be able to stand up there and hand over that clock and be able to recognize them because they all have different impacts. Some are not seen in the public eye as much as others and that’s okay, but they each have a positive lasting impression on our community and truly what makes our community and the communities around us great.” 
Nominations for the award came from the citizens of Kalona.
