kalona-days-2022-2

Kalona Days starts Friday night June 17 at 5 pm. New this year is the Night Market. Produce and craft vendors will  set up in downtown Kalona from 5-8 pm. Musicians will perform throughout the downtown area. There will be free wagon rides throughout the Historical Village and downtown area. The local 4-H Group the Limecreek Limelights will have a petting zoo with rabbits and goats.

Director at the Kalona Chamber of Commerce Tonia Poole adds the event gets even bigger on Saturday, starting off with the Fun Run in the morning and activities leading up to the parade,”While people are waiting after the pie contest and before the parade the Kalona Fire Department is going to have water activities for the kids to do and the Kalona Library has Bubble Mania coming. It’s giant bubbles for kids and adults to play and walk in.”

This year’s parade is recognizing local veterans. Poole shares, “On C Avenue is a memorial, a veterans memorial, and so we’re going to be honoring veterans. And if you are a veteran and want to come down we would love to give you some recognition and we’ll have a space reserved there for our veterans.”

The KCII Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live and announcing the parade at Kalona Days on Saturday from 2-6 pm as part of the Big Red Radio Summer Town Tour.
