The Hillcrest Academy baseball and softball teams take the field tonight on the road against Winfield-Mt. Union in an all KCII area battle. The Hillcrest baseball team is 2-3 in conference and overall after a 15-11 win in Packwood over the Panthers Friday. The Ravens are hitting .257 as a team with Luke and Liam Schrock and Grant Bender all at the .350 mark or better. Luke leads the way at .435 with 10 hits and seven runs scored. Josiah Beachy has a team best six RBI. On the hill, the Ravens have a 5.15 team ERA. Seth Ours has three appearances with a 4.57 ERA. Luke Schrock is 1-1 with 11 innings and a 6.36 ERA.

Winfield-Mt. Union/Columbus is 0-6 this season after an 11-5 loss to Highland Monday. The Wolves are hitting .136 as a team with Cole Milks at .273 best on the team. Nick Crow has four RBI and Cael Phillips three runs scored. The Wolves team ERA is 6.21 with Milks yet to give up an earned run in two innings on the mound. Crow is at 2.21 in six innings. Hillcrest has won 16 of the last 19 meetings, including seven straight with an 8-2 win in 2021.

The Hillcrest softball team is 1-5 this season after a 13-12 loss at Pekin Friday. The Ravens are hitting .273 as a team with three hitters above .300 led by Grace Miller’s .429 average and team best six hits. Malia Yoder has driven in six and Norah Yoder has scored five times. In the circle, the Hillcrest ERA is 8.44 with Leah Bontrager working 31 of 32 innings played, holding an 0-5 record, allowing 51 hits, 36 earned runs and 24 strikeouts for an 8.13 mark.

Winfield-Mt. Union is 3-4 this year overall and in the conference. They fell to Highland 10-0 Monday. For the season, the Lady Wolves are .312 at the plate with three players over .400 led by Anna Anderson’s .474 mark with nine hits and eight RBI. Keely Malone has scored a team best 10 runs. In the circle, WMU’s team ERA is 5.38 led by Maiah Lower with a 2-2 record in 31 innings, giving up 39 hits, 21 earned runs, and striking out 27 for a 4.74 ERA. The Lady Wolves have won six straight in the series, including a 6-0 win last year and have not allowed a run to the Ravens since 2019.
