We are halfway home in the 2022 Iowa High School Girls State Golf Meet and three KCII area teams have work to do in the final 18 holes to climb the standings. 

The defending state champion Washington Demons currently sit in sixth place out of 10 in the class 3A meet at River Valley Golf Course in Adel. Their first round of 18 holes saw them finish with a 400 (+112) while Gilbert has taken control of the lead with a 348 (+60). Kaylin Long is currently in a tie for 21st out of 76 with a score of 93 and Makenna Conrad is tied for 24th with a 95. Alecia Goff shot a 105, Mallary Johnson 107, Maci Williams 114, and Haley Mitchell 125. 

The class 2A meet at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls has Mid-Prairie in 10th place with a day one tally of 403 (+115). New Hampton has a first place lead by nine strokes with 348. Madi Davidson had the top Golden Hawk score of 96 to put her in a tie for 27th out of 73. Madelyn Bender shot a 98, Elliott Debler 104, Addison English 105, Gabi Robertson 106, and Alexa Huber 110. 

Sigourney is competing in their second straight class 1A state competition and they are in eighth at American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown. The Savages shot a 400 (+116) while Bishop Garrigan leads the pack with a 361. Senior Maddie Hornback has put herself in prime position to medal currently sitting in the runner-up spot with a 10 over par round of 81. That is six strokes off the lead with defending state champ Greenlee Smock of Lynnville-Sully carding a 75. Reggie Talbert and Claire Svenby are in a tie for 45th out of 76 with matching scores of 103, Maizy Cowman shot a 113, Zoe Webb 132, and Julia VanEe 132. 

The second and final day of state tees off at 8:30 a.m. this morning.
