A Muscatine man was recently convicted for a September 2021 incident in Washington County.

Through a plea agreement, 37-year-old Lucas Leonhard was convicted of a lesser charge of disorderly conduct – fighting or violent behavior, a simple misdemeanor. Leonhard was ordered to serve a five-day jail sentence with credit for time previously served and pay pecuniary damages, court costs and court-appointed attorney fees. The charge stems from a Riverside incident. A Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a business at 3184 Highway 22 for a report of a physical domestic altercation. Building security informed the deputy that Leonhard was still on the premises and that they had video footage of him arguing with and striking the female victim. The deputy was informed that Leonhard had a valid no contact order from the victim. Leonhard was arrested for domestic abuse third or subsequent offense, a class D felony, and violation of a protection order. Leonard was convicted in 2017 in Muscatine County of domestic abuse assault impeding airflow and causing bodily injury, a class D felony. He also faces another domestic abuse charge in Muscatine County for a June 2021 alleged incident. The state changed his domestic abuse charge from third offense to second offense as any pending charges cannot be considered for enhancement, according to Washington County Attorney John Gish. The protection order violation charge was dismissed by the court.
