The special football season that is brewing in Wayland continued on Friday when No 10 WACO stayed unbeaten by pulling away from Iowa Valley 42-6 on homecoming.

The score was 16-6 after one headlined by a 23 yard touchdown pass from Isaac Oswald to Drew Diers, an 18 yard rushing score from Simeon Reichenbach, and a 27-yard field goal from Reichenbach. That tally stayed true heading into the break, but outscoring the Tigers 26-0 in the second half initiated the running clock. The Warrior defense continues to be ball hawks forcing six turnovers including interceptions from Reichenbach, Mason Miller, Colton Leichty, and Taylor Sutton. They held the Tigers (1-3) to 210 total yards and Diers managed seven tackles. Head Coach Chad Edeker tells KCII Sports his defensive backs were in control all night. “Our d-backs did a great job of getting to the ball. In the past we have had issues with playing the ball correctly when in position, but we didn’t do that tonight. We played the ball nicely and picked them off four times with a couple more opportunities too. We were in position and the secondary did a good job taking advantage.”

Oswald completed four of 10 passes for 109 yards and three scores to Diers, Jonah Clark, and Ty Egli. Reichenbach recorded 16 carries for 150 yards and the one score while Oswald and Jon Rice also had rushing touchdowns.

WACO improves to 5-0 and they get ready for a top 10 showdown Friday at No. 8 New London (2-1).
