The South Iowa Cedar League leaders for baseball and softball stayed a top of the standings on Wednesday when the Sigourney summer teams took two from Iowa Valley.

The softball team recorded their second straight mercy rule victory with an 11-0 final where they plated 10 runs in the third, fourth, and fifth inning to make it a quick night. Carly Goodwin continues to swing a hot bat going 4-for-4 while Kaylee Weber and Macy Fisch each brought in three tallies. Fisch connected on her first home run of the season. Goodwin got the win on the rubber tossing all five innings giving up just two hits and striking out 10. Sigourney is 16-8 overall and 11-1 in the SICL, tied with Lynnville-Sully for first.

The Savage baseball team shook off a 5-4 loss to BGM on Tuesday and rebounded last night with a 6-1 win over the Tigers. Up 2-1 in the fifth, Sigourney plated two more in that inning and two in the seventh to pull away for the victory. The Savages improve to 13-3 overall and have a one game lead at the top with a 10-2 league mark.
