Temperatures have heated up in southeast Iowa and the calendar will turn officially to Summer later this month. Louisa County Conservation is celebrating the change in seasons with outdoor activities. Summer Rec is coming to Academy Park in Grandview this Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon each day. They will also host the program in Morning Sun at Locust Grove Park June 21st through the 25th from 9a.m. to noon each day. This program is free and open to kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. The theme is “Animal Olympics,” giving kids a chance to play games, make crafts and explore the outdoors.

On June 26th you can Pick-n-Paddle the Iowa River from Schwob access in Wapello to Cappy Russell. The full route is around 10 miles. Participants will hunt for trash to help clean up the river and enjoy nature. There will also be water testing and quality exercises.
