With the Fourth of July less than a month away, a Washington County-based organization is busy getting ready for their next holiday meal kit program for those that are food insecure.
Following their inaugural holiday meal kit program last December, Washington for Justice is partnering with La Morenita Mexican Store and Fareway to provide free traditional and Latinx-style Fourth of July meal kits for Washington County families to prepare and enjoy at home. Washington for Justice Director Meredith Henderson is grateful for the community support their December meal kit program received, and she hopes that will continue as food insecurity is experienced year round, “For our holiday meal kit we gave away about 62-63 kits and I’d love to see that increase. Unfortunately we had to turn some people away. We want to be able to provide for as many people as we can, so $30 can get a meal box for a family, so anything helps at all.”
Monetary donations can be mailed to Washington for Justice or sent to their Venmo or Paypal accounts. They are also accepting reservations for those who would like a kit delivered to them or picked up on June 30th. The deadline for reservations is June 28th.
