A Perry man was arrested for allegedly stealing livestock from the Kalona Sale Barn.

Court documents show that on March 26th a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy was informed by Kalona Sale Barn management staff that on March 3rd, 20-year-old Logan Frank Steadman of Perry purchased 42 goats for the amount of $10,840. Steadman loaded the goats into his livestock trailer and left the sale barn without paying for the goats. When contacted Steadman stated the goats were purchased for a Minnesota-based company and delivered to that facility. The deputy contacted said company and the owner advised he never requested Steadman to purchase the livestock and the goats were never delivered to his facility.

Steadman was arrested Thursday for first degree theft, a class C felony. He was taken into custody at the Washington County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
