The extreme winter weather that plagued much of the country last week has forced Henry County to delay its next COVID vaccination clinic.

Henry County Public Health’s Kelly Carr says due to weather-related shipping delays, their next doses of COVID-19 vaccines are now scheduled to be administered Thursday, March 4th. She says there will be 300 first shot vaccinations available and another 100 people will receive their booster dose.

Carr says they are scheduling appointments for 65 and older and others in tier one of Phase 1B, including healthcare workers, first responders, early childhood education and childcare workers. She says the county has also completed the initial COVID vaccinations for teachers and staff in the Winfield-Mount Union, Mount Pleasant, and New London school districts with WACO scheduled to receive theirs this Friday.

Carr says the weather is one variable their staff can’t control when scheduling vaccine clinics. She asks for patience because it will take awhile to get to everyone vaccinated with the current supply levels.
