Heritage Area Agency on Aging is available to assist older adults in Washington County connect with COVID-19 vaccine resources.

Community Engagement Coordinator Harrison March says while Heritage AAA itself does not administer vaccinations, they can help older adults locate vaccination clinics, schedule an appointment, and arrange for transportation to get them to their appointment, “Based on where they live, based on maybe if they’re a veteran, we might be able to connect them with a VA if they have a clinic. If they’re older adults from Washington County, we’ll share with them information we have from Washington County Public Health about any clinics they have or any registration or waitlists, anything like that. We’re staying in constant contact with public health so we can provide older adults the information they need if they want to sign up for a vaccination.”

March says it’s a stressful time and with the pandemic being a fluid situation, information can change daily, making it difficult for older adults to stay up-to-date with vaccination developments.  The agency serves seven counties including Washington, Iowa and Johnson.
