The Mid-Prairie girls basketball team will take the floor at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman Friday when they welcome state ranked West Liberty. The Mid-Prairie girls are 7-6 on the year after handling Durant on the road Tuesday 54-29. Maddie Nonnenmann led Mid-Prairie in the win with 21 points. On the season, she’s the team leader with 13 points per game and seven rebounds per contest. Amara Jones leads the Hawks with four assists and three steals a night.

West Liberty comes in with an overall record of 7-3. They are ranked No. 9 in class 3A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Comets beat Wilton on Tuesday 75-54 on the strength of 30 points from Finley Hall. For the year, West Liberty is led by Hall at 18 points per game. Sailor Hall is best on the team with five assists and four steals per contest. Macy Daufeldt leads West Liberty on the glass with seven rebounds a night. These two teams met on December 21st with West Liberty taking a 61-26 win on their home court. The Comets have won five straight in the series. Due to COVID concerns within the West Liberty boys program, the boys game between two schools has been moved to Monday. Action between the Mid-Prairie and West Liberty girls starts tonight at 7p.m. in Wellman.
