A key Southeast Conference doubleheader takes place in Keokuk tonight when the Washington basketball teams make a trip south to face off with the Chiefs. 

The Demon girls are looking for their second conference win sitting at 1-4 in the league and 1-10 overall. They last fell to Burlington Notre Dame 63-22 on Monday. Anna Nacos produces 10.5 of the team’s 33 points a night and Alex Murphy brings in 4.4 rebounds. The Chiefs lost just two players from an 18-4 campaign last year, but are off to a slow start with a 3-5 overall mark and 2-1 in conference. Abby Wolter is dangerous averaging 17 points and 6.7 rebounds a night while connecting on 52% of her shots from long range. The Chiefs have had the Demons’ number winning the last 12 meetings dating back to 2014. 

The Washington boys are searching for their third straight victory and had one of their more complete games of the season in Monday’s 76-53 win over Notre Dame. The Demons are 7-3 and look to stay atop of the conference standings with a 4-1 mark. Ethan Patterson has drilled 39% of his threes and leads the team with 16.3 points a game. Keokuk is 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the league. Senior Anthony Potratz has been a four year starter and registers 14.7 points a contest. Last season these two squads split a pair of one-possession affairs including a thrilling 73-70 Demon victory on Valentine’s Day that clinched their first SEC title in 13 years.
