A recently formed Washington group is organizing an effort to offer a free holiday meal to families in need.
Washington for Justice has partnered with the Washington Fareway and Hy-Vee to provide holiday meal kits this December. Treasurer Haleigh Brockman says the group has received about a dozen requests so far for holiday meal kits, and they hope to fulfill around 25 orders, “The holidays are always a little bit tough for people and this holiday season is even more so. No matter how you celebrate I think it’s going to look different for everyone this year, so we wanted to help out and we’re finding that a lot of people are wanting to help in any way they can.”
Washington for Justice is seeking $25 donations to provide either a turkey or ham meal or a Latino-cuisine meal, and the deadline for donations and meal requests is Friday, December 18th. Meals will then be distributed at the Mills Seed Building on December 21st, and home delivery is available as well.
