A few KCII area wrestling teams competed on the mat in Wapello Saturday for the annual Willard Howell Invitational.

Columbus Community walked away with a fourth place finish out of 10 with 124 points while Sigourney-Keota claimed fifth with 99 points. Wilton won the title with 173. Two Wildcats took home the gold with Lane Scorpil going 4-0 at 113 lbs and Chance Malone winning both of his matches at 285 lbs. Scorpil won by technical fall twice with 17-1 and 17-2 scores and had a pair of pins in a combined 3:58. Malone pinned both of his opponents in 4:07. Other top Wildcat performances included Jeff Hoback second at 138 lbs and four third place finishes including Ty Scorpil at 106 lbs, Will Hotz at 170 lbs, Trent Wilkerson at 195 lbs, and Kai Malone at 220 lbs.

Jack Clarahan was the lone Cobra with a first place finish at 160 lbs. He had three pins in a combined 6:57. Other notable places included Cade Streigle second at 220 lbs, Jake Moore third at 145 lbs, and Aiden Schuster third at 182 lbs.

Columbus gets back on the mat today at English Valleys while S-K travels to Pleasantville.
