The first girl/boy doubleheader of the season took place in Wayland last night with the WACO basketball teams dropping a pair of games to Holy Trinity.

The Warrior girls fell in heartbreaking fashion with a final score of 41-39. The Crusaders’ Kassi Randolph led all scorers with 10 points. WACO was balanced offensively with Morgan Graber and Ellah Kissell leading the way with nine points a piece, Aubri Garnsey had eight, and Tesla Malloy chipped in with seven.

The nightcap saw Holy Trinity pull away for a 73-49 victory. Vasin Thurman proved to be too hard to stop, as the senior led all scorers with 29 points. Simeon Reichenbach led the Warriors with 10 points while Isaac Oswald and Vincent Jones each had eight.

The boys start the season 0-1 and the girls fall to 0-2. Both teams get back at it on Friday at New London.
